Joint Controllership

Why do we use joint controllership?

Events 4 Healthcare Ltd, 3 Waterloo Farm Courtyard, Stotfold Road, Arlesey, Bedfordshire SG15 6XP, UK (“Events4Helthcare”) and Mylan UK Healthcare Ltd, 20 Station Close, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, EN6 1TL, UK (“Mylan”) work closely together in providing this webinar. This also applies to the processing of your personal data. The parties have jointly determined the order of the processing of your personal data in each section of processing. Therefore, they are so-called joint controllers for the protection of your personal data within the sections of processing described below.

In which sections of processing exists a joint controllership?

When carrying out the webinar and sharing the data on data subjects participated in the webinar, Events4Healthcare and Mylan are joint controllers.

However, the Parties are independent controllers in relation to:

  • processing of Personal Data related to invitation of healthcare professionals to participate in the webinar;
  • subsequent processing of Personal Data related to healthcare professionals participated in the webinar for own marketing purposes;
  • processing of Personal Data necessary to comply with statutory obligations, including regulatory requirements and data retention obligations.

What did the Parties agree on?

Events4Healthcare and Mylan jointly agreed on which obligations each party fulfils under the data protection law. This particularly concerns the exercise of the rights of data subjects and the fulfilment of information obligations under data protection law.

What does this mean for you as the data subject?

Despite the existence of a joint controllership, the Parties fulfil the obligations under data protection law in accordance with their respective competences for the individual stages of the process as follows:

  • Events4Healthcare shall provide any information required under data protection law to the data subject free of charge in a concise, transparent, intelligible and easily accessible form, using clear and plain language.
  • The Parties shall immediately inform each other about the exertion of the rights of a data subject and provide the other party with all necessary information referred to the right of access.
  • The data subject may exercise his or her rights under data protection law in respect of and against Events4Healthcare. In principle, the information to the data subject is provided by Events4Healthcare. Irrespective of the terms of the agreement between the parties, the data subject may exercise his or her rights under data protection law in respect of and against each of the parties.
